We’re absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news — the Mayne Street to Brown Road section of the Waitara Loop Trails is officially complete! This marks another proud milestone in the journey toward creating a connected, safe, and scenic trail network for Waitara and the wider Taranaki community.
This newly finished section showcases everything we love about the Waitara Loop vision: a high-quality, accessible trail winding through green open spaces, rural landscapes, and sheltered corridors, linking neighbourhoods while inviting people outdoors. Whether you’re heading out for a relaxed walk, an easy ride, or simply enjoying fresh air and views, this trail is designed to be used and loved by everyone.

Projects like this simply don’t happen without strong community support, and we are incredibly grateful to Te Tai Pari Board and Toi Foundation for their generous funding contributions. Your belief in this project has helped turn a shared vision into a tangible, lasting asset — one that will be enjoyed for generations.
As the whakataukī reminds us:
He taonga tuku iho — a treasured gift handed down.
This trail truly is that: a gift to the community, created with care and foresight for the future.

A massive shout-out must also go to Darcy Keene Earthmoving for their outstanding workmanship in delivering this section of trail. From smooth, well-formed paths to thoughtful access features and a finish that blends beautifully with the surrounding environment, the quality of their work speaks for itself. We’re incredibly proud of the end result and grateful to work with teams who share the same commitment to excellence.

The Mayne Street to Brown Road section strengthens the Waitara Loop by improving local connections, supporting active transport, and encouraging more people to explore their backyard. It’s another step toward a loop that brings together people, place, and wellbeing — enhancing everyday journeys while also offering something special for visitors discovering Waitara on foot or by bike.

Now comes the best part — seeing the community out there enjoying it. We can’t wait to see walkers, riders, families, and friends making the most of this awesome new section and embracing everything it has to offer.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this project so far. There’s more to come, and we’re excited to keep building momentum together.
See you on the trail! 🙌
